Towards a Decolonial Uncanny: Reconfiguring the Ineffable in Anna Kim's ‘Greenland’ Novel Anatomie einer Nacht (2012)

This article thinks through the notion of a decolonial uncanny via reading Anna Kim's Anatomie einer Nacht [Anatomy Night] and theoretical discussion Freudian as underpinned by antinomies which structure German Romanticism. I argue that novel, set in Greenland, shifts away from aesthetic emphasizing geopolitical ontological while questioning conception otherness Romanticism Freud's psychoanalytic iteration reconfiguring to trouble oppositional framework wherein ‘the Greenlander’ might appear silenced other. text negotiates different moment within pivots on aporia revelation concealment, resulting multifaceted representations alterity.
